Is Ethereum a Sound Investment?

For a number of years now, the investment world has been buzzing with news about bitcoin. Interest in this particular cryptocurrency and form of making payments has led to a number of others joining the market. Ethereum is one of them and there are many people wondering whether investing in it is a good decision to make. After all, those who got in on the ground floor with bitcoin made substantial gains and many are thinking there may be similar ones to make with this new cryptocurrency. The cap on this particular form of investment went up this year, 2018, to more than $200 billion. Bitcoin also made the headlines when trading began, on the Chicago Board Options Exchange, of the first bitcoin future.

Reasons to Invest in Ethereum

Bitcoin has already proved its worth as an investment and many are now wondering whether Ethereum is set to follow suit. There are a number of reasons why you might want to consider it.

Value – the value of bitcoin has risen considerably and as more people start to use the Ethereum currency ether, its value has also risen. It has already been publicly traded for 2 years and its issuance is limited to 18 million annually. The current value of one ether is more than $700. Compare that with the price just one year ago, $30, and you'll be tempted to jump onboard.

Popularity – it hasn't taken long for Ethereum to grow in popularity and it is now believed that there are millions using cryptocurrency wallets that hold this currency. The idea was the brainchild of VitalikButerin in 2013.

Trading – Ethereum can be traded on many of the cryptocurrency exchanges that are popping up.

Purchasing – bitcoins are already accepted by a number of different organisations for making payments. Ethereum is also being accepted by an increasing number.

Many consider that digital currencies are the future. It certainly seems likely as more and more people are becoming disenchanted with the traditional financial markets.

However, a word of caution is required. While investing in Ethereum has made some investors a significant amount of money, there have been other who have lost out. The value of cryptocurrencies falls and rises on a daily basis because it is a very volatile market.

There are plenty of alternatives if you want to make an investment. Silver and gold, for example, or platinum and rhodium. If you'd prefer this kind of investment Indigo Precious Metals can help.
